About Lotto Max

How to play

Lotto Max costs $6 per play, and every play gives you four sets of seven numbers from 1 to 52. Choose the first set yourself and let Quick Pick handle the other three, or Quick Pick all four.

Match all seven numbers on one line to win the jackpot. Combination Play is available in 8 and 9 number formats, in store only. ENCORE can be added for $1 per play.

What changed in April 2026

From the April 14, 2026 draw, Lotto Max went from $5 to $6 a play, the number pool grew from 1–50 to 1–52, and the jackpot cap rose from $70 million to $90 million.

MAXPLUS also arrived: $100,000 prizes drawn at every jackpot level, one for each $1 million of jackpot. A $10 million jackpot means ten of them; a $90 million jackpot means ninety.

MAXMILLIONS

Once the jackpot reaches $50 million, extra $1 million draws called MAXMILLIONS run alongside it while the jackpot keeps growing. Each is a separate seven-number draw, and you need all seven to win.

An unwon MAXMILLIONS prize rolls into the next jackpot or the next set of MAXMILLIONS, depending on whether the main jackpot was taken.

Draw schedule

Draws are held every Tuesday and Friday. Ticket sales close at 10:30 PM Eastern — that's 9:30 PM Central, 8:30 PM Mountain and 7:30 PM Pacific.

Draws are conducted in Toronto by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation using a certified random number generator, which replaced the ball machines in May 2019.

The total amount of $20 and Free Play prizes is paid from the Prize Fund, and the balance of the fund (the Pools Fund) is then allocated to the 5/7, 6/7, 6/7 + Bonus and 7/7 prize categories as indicated in the table below. If there is more than one winner in the 5/7, 6/7, 6/7 + Bonus or 7/7 prize categories, the prize in that category will be shared among the winners in that category. The amount of the 7/7 prize category for the LOTTO MAX Main Draw is capped at $60 million (the 7/7 Cap). When the amount of the 7/7 prize category for any given draw exceeds $60 million, each $1 million in excess of the 7/7 Cap is drawn as a separate $1-million MAXMILLIONS prize. For each MAXMILLIONS Draw, seven numbers are drawn from among all numbers from 1 to 49. Players must match all seven numbers drawn to win a MAXMILLIONS prize. If there is more than one winner in a MAXMILLIONS Draw, the MAXMILLIONS prize will be shared among the winners in that draw.

Any excess of the 7/7 prize category for any given draw over the 7/7 Cap, less all $1-million MAXMILLIONS prizes available for that draw, will be added to the 6/7 + Bonus prize category for such draw or, if the 6/7 + Bonus prize category is not won, will be added to the 7/7 prize category of the next draw. Any amount not won in a MAXMILLIONS Draw(s) is added to the 7/7 prize category of the next draw.
